5G delivers speeds from around 150–400 Mbps up to 1 Gbps, with uploads up to 50–150 Mbps and latency as low as 10–20 ms. This means faster downloads, smoother video calls, lag-free gaming, and a seamless experience with cloud tools.

No, existing INKK Wananavu Mobile Data Plans support 4G/4G+.

 

However, effective from 11th October, 2025, a pilot programme of INKK Mobile Supa5G Mobile Data Plans has been launched. The pilot programme of INKK Mobile Supa5G Mobile Plans is currently only available to selected 5G-Ready INKK Mobile Users located in 5G Coverage Zones whose software is up-to-date and able to access 5G.

While some smartphones are 5G-Capable, most smartphones are not 5G-Ready yet as they need a special software update to connect to 5G. These updates are to be released by smartphone manufacturers. It is important to note that manufacturers could only begin to create a special software update once the relevant Mobile Network Operator had been issued a 5G commercial license. Manufacturers are working to release these updates as quickly as possible.

This depends on your smartphone model. Updates are typically released within 3 to 6 months from the time when the Mobile Network Operator had been issued a 5G commercial license. For some devices, it may take up to 12 months.

Most 5G-Capable Smartphones require a special software update from device manufacturers and may not be able to use 5G until the update has been released, downloaded and installed.

Effective from 11th October, 2025, a pilot programme of INKK Supa5G Mobile Data Plans has been launched to a selected group of 5G-Ready customers located in 5G Coverage Zones.

To experience INKK Mobile 5G Internet Services, you must first be selected to be a part of the pilot phase, be in a 5G coverage area, have a 5G-Ready device, have a 5G-enabled mobile data plan, and ensure that the network mode on your device is set to 5G.

Customers cannot sign up to be a part of the pilot programme to ensure a seamless customer experience. Customers will be selected by the product team based on a special criterion. Eligible Customers will be notified about their selection via an SMS message to confirm that they have been enrolled into the pilot programme.

To enjoy INKK Mobile’s 5G services, you need:

 

  • To be selected into the pilot programme of INKK Supa5G Mobile Data Plans
  • A 5G-Ready smartphone or device (software is up-to-date and capable of accessing 5G)
  • Be in a 5G coverage zone
  • A Supa5G Mobile Internet Plan from *494#
  • Ensure that the network mode on your device is set to “5G Auto”, “5G preferred” or “5G/4G/3G”.
  • Ensure that Power Saver Mode is disabled.

 

We are actively collaborating with device manufacturers to promptly develop and push Operating System software update patches for accessing 5G services.

We have identified customers who live in a 5G coverage zone and have a 5G-Ready Smartphone whose software is up-to-date and capable of accessing our 5G network seamlessly. Over time, more customers will become eligible to use 5G on their Smartphone as soon as their device manufacturers release a special software update to enable 5G access. Eligible Customers will be notified about their selection via an SMS message if they meet all the required conditions to be a part of the pilot programme.

  1. Only specially selected customers are eligible to subscribe to INKK Supa5G Mobile Data Plans during the pilot phase.
  2. INKK Supa5G Mobile Data plans subscribed from *494# are set to auto-renew after their expiry period. To un-subscribe from the 5G data plans, dial *494#, select the plan you are subscribed to and select Option 2 to “Un-subscribe”.
  3. Remaining data will expire upon expiry date and time.
  4. The pilot phase of INKK Supa5G Mobile Data Plans is available to selected INKK Mobile customers ONLY.
  5. To experience INKK Mobile 5G Internet Services, you must first be selected to be a part of the pilot phase, be in a 5G coverage area, have a 5G-Ready device, have a 5G-enabled mobile data plan, and ensure that the network mode on your device is set to 5G. Note: Power Saving features may restrict your phone from accessing 5G in order to conserve battery power. Disable Power Saver Mode to access 5G.
  6. Customers cannot sign up to be a part of the pilot programme to ensure a seamless customer experience. Customers will be selected by the product team based on a special criterion. Eligible Customers will be notified about their selection via an SMS message to confirm that they have been enrolled into the pilot programme.
  7. Promotion is valid until further notice.

If your device is compatible with 5G, then you do not need to upgrade your device to 5G. If your device does not support 5G, then you will need to upgrade to a 5G-compatible device supporting 5G bands of n41 and n78. Many new devices are being released with built-in 5G capabilities. Check with your device manufacturer or call INKK Mobile’s Customer Care on 444 to ensure compatibility.
